SPAN 305: Spanish for the professions
Course Description
Designed for students interested in developing a functional use of Spanish for the professions (business, education, law, medicine, social work, etc.), from a Hispanic cultural perspective. Students will have an opportunity to practice and develop their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. The Spanish-speaking world will provide the cultural context, and the area of business the content area. From CSUMB Catalog
Course reflective narrative
Despite being Mexican and my native language is Spanish, this class has helped me to improve all aspects of the language, from pronunciation to grammar. This class allowed me to increase my vocabulary that is used in the business industries. Among the work we focused was the Hispanic Society and business, Economy and finances, marketing and publicity and importations and exportations. I also had the opportunity to learn and realize that the translation from English to Spanish and Spanish to English does not always make sense when is translate literally. This course has helped me prepare to embark on a professional world. I was able to prepare a resume, I learned how to handle a job interview, and especially as giving a professional inaccuracies.
