Course reflective narrative
I took Service Learning in Fall of 2013 with Professor Rafael Gomez. This course gave me the opportunity to get involved with my community. I worked at Linscott Charter School, a very successful school since parents volunteer to work in class or outside of class directly interacting with the student. I choose to work in this facility because my son is a student there. Being a college student, did not allowed me to help during classes in Linscott. I noticed that most of the children in my sons second grade class were behind in math and reading. For this reason I decided to speak to the teacher and we decided to have an after school tutoring program. The program was successful, so we we decided to provide tutoring to the same students as they go into different grade levels. It was a great experience to get to know all this students and realized the different needs each student have, needs that most of the time are not being notice by their teachers. Being able to give your community a little of what you've accomplished through your studies was very pleasant.
For this course we had to document in a journal our duties in the work site. Next you will find a short narrative of my Service Journal.
