Course reflective narrative
I took this course, History and Politics of Mexico with Dr. Rafael Gomez, fulfilled MLO 3, literacy and cultural knowledge. This course was an in depth history course that began with the pre-Colombian Mesoamerica civilizations and cultures, like the Maya, Aztec, Toltec, Zapotecs and Tlaxcala's and ended with Mexico in the 20th century after the Mexican Revolution. This course contributed to my fulfillment of the MLO 3: Literary and Cultural Knowledge, because I was able to increased a cultural and historical knowledge of Mexican history. We made an overall portfolio that entailed essays describing each era and war in Mexico. The knowledge I acquired during this course has allowed me to gain a closer understanding of Mexico and it’s people. I can now understand all the sentiments and ideologies that go along with the Mexican way of life from different perspectives that different writers that had live during those periods have written about. Now I can understand the problems of the nation. These problems are not new, they are problems that been dragged through history. Where elites gain power and those of the lower classes bow to their domain.
